The "No Duh" Study of the Day

Captain Obvious has spoken. Researches with the American Psychological Association have spent a lot of time and money “discovering” what every person on the face of the planet should already know.

“Research evidence shows that the sexualization of girls negatively affects girls and young women across a variety of health domains”

So, dressing up your adolescent daughter (or allowing her to dress herself) like a tramp is a BAD thing. Uhh….No S**t, Sherlock.

Among their findings, they “discovered”:

1. Cognitive and Emotional Consequences: Sexualization and objectification undermine a person's confidence in and comfort with her own body, leading to emotional and self-image problems, such as shame and anxiety.

2. Mental and Physical Health: Research links sexualization with three of the most common mental health problems diagnosed in girls and women--eating disorders, low self-esteem, and depression or depressed mood.

3. Sexual Development: Research suggests that the sexualization of girls has negative consequences on girls' ability to develop a healthy sexual self-image.

If you can’t figure these things out on your own, don’t have children. You will be doing the world a favor.
